This page explains how Orient Gazette handles information when you read our stories, sign in, comment, receive emails or use our editorial tools. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to newsroom@orientgazette.com. Our publication is based in Marikina City, Philippines.
Your account and public profile
Google sign-in lets us verify your Google account identifier and email address. Google may also provide profile information, including a profile-picture link. We do not receive your Google password. Your login email and Google account identifier remain private; a Google photo is not published unless you choose to use it.
Your chosen public name, profile photo, bio, social-profile links, approved comments and article bylines can be visible to readers. Active editorial contributors may appear on their department pages. Subscriber country, city and mobile number are requested to complete a commenting profile and are kept in the private subscriber directory. The Administrator can access and export that directory. Readers and other editorial staff cannot access those private subscriber details.
Email updates
New-story emails are sent when you opt in. You can subscribe during sign-in or change this choice in My profile → Email preferences. Signing in without checking the email box keeps your existing preference. Every new-story email includes an unsubscribe link. Account and editorial notifications are separate; activity preferences are available in your profile.
We keep delivery records such as recipient, message type, queue status, attempts and timestamps to operate email delivery and investigate failures. Our email templates do not include tracking pixels. “Sent” in the Newsroom means the mail server accepted the message, not that the recipient opened it.
Cookies and sign-in
We use a secure session cookie to keep you signed in and protect account actions. Google controls the cookies and other information used on its own sign-in pages. You can manage cookies through your browser; blocking essential session cookies may prevent sign-in or commenting.
Advertising and your choices
We use Google AdSense on eligible public pages. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, local storage, IP addresses and device or browsing information to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud and, where you permit it, personalize advertising. For readers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, our Google consent message provides Consent, Do not consent and Manage options choices once enabled for this site. The message lists participating vendors and purposes. Your advertising choice is separate from newsletter sign-up and Google login.
Embedded media and external links
Social videos load from their provider when you choose to play them. Those providers may receive your IP address, device information and cookies under their own policies. Share icons open the selected service only when used; we do not post on your behalf. Other linked sites have their own privacy practices.
Storage, access and requests
The website and private application records are hosted with our hosting provider, GoDaddy. Google provides sign-in and advertising services. These services may process information on servers outside your country. We use access controls to separate public content from private account, subscriber and editorial records.
We retain account, content, moderation and delivery records to provide the service, maintain publication history and resolve operational issues. You can edit your public profile and email preferences in My profile. Contact the newsroom to request access, correction or deletion of your personal information, or to ask about its use. We may need to verify your account before acting, and some records may need to be retained for legitimate operational or legal reasons.
