Benguet: Mountains, Gardens and Highland Views
From Mount Pulag to La Trinidad, the province’s scenery is shaped by both nature and cultivation.
Benguet’s mountain scenery has made it a familiar name among hikers, but the province also rewards attention at a slower pace. Vegetable terraces, roadside gardens and highland towns form part of the view long before a summit comes into sight.
Mount Pulag is among the Cordillera’s best-known mountain landscapes, with grasslands that open above forested slopes. It is a protected area, and a journey there requires planning around local arrangements and weather rather than treating the climb as an easy excursion for everyone.
Closer to La Trinidad, Mount Kalugong offers another perspective on the surrounding valley. Strawberry farms and agricultural plots complete the picture: Benguet’s landscape is also a working one, shaped by the people who grow food in the highlands.
