Biliran: Island Views and Inland Waterfalls
Small offshore islands and green mountain scenery give this province a varied natural character.
Biliran became a separate province in 1992. Its landscape combines a mountainous main island with smaller offshore destinations, making the sea and the uplands equally important to its appeal.
Sambawan is among its best-known island views. From elevated ground, the shape of the shoreline and the surrounding water come into focus. Higatangan’s sandbar offers another coastal scene, changing in appearance with the tide.
Inland, waterfalls such as Tinago and Ulan-Ulan reveal a greener, more enclosed landscape. The Tres Marias mountains add another feature to the province’s silhouette. Biliran’s attraction is this variety within a relatively compact setting: a boat journey, a view from a hill and the sound of falling water can each offer a different introduction.
