Lanao del Norte: Rivers, Falls and Neighboring Views
The province and nearby Iligan offer a varied introduction to northern Mindanao’s waterways.
Lanao del Norte forms part of a wider region connected by cultural history and flowing water. Lake Lanao itself lies in Lanao del Sur, while the Agus River carries its waters north toward Iligan Bay.
Nearby Iligan, an administratively independent city, is known for waterfalls including Maria Cristina, Tinago and Mimbalut. These places are often included in journeys through northern Lanao, but distinguishing the city from the province helps make the geography clearer.
Within Lanao del Norte, towns, agricultural areas and upland communities offer further settings to explore. The appeal of the wider journey comes from these connections: rivers linking landscapes, roads joining settlements, and cultural traditions that extend across provincial boundaries without being confined by them.
