Oriental Mindoro: An Island Sanctuary
Bays, coastal communities and a great inland lake reveal the variety of Mindoro’s eastern side.
Oriental Mindoro’s coast opens toward the Verde Island Passage, a marine area celebrated for its biodiversity. Puerto Galera is among the province’s best-known destinations, with bays and beaches set against a green, mountainous backdrop.
Farther south, Bulalacao offers another perspective on the coastline, with offshore islands and waterside communities. The province is also home to Mangyan communities whose distinct traditions form an essential part of Mindoro’s cultural life.
Away from the sea, Naujan Lake adds an inland dimension to the landscape. Seeing Oriental Mindoro through both its waters and its communities gives a fuller picture than a beach itinerary alone: an island province where natural environments and ways of life are closely connected.
