Quirino: Where the Landscape Opens Up
Caves, rivers and forested hills offer a quieter introduction to the Cagayan Valley.
Quirino is a province of inland scenery: rivers run between wooded hills, while caves and waterfalls create natural landmarks away from the better-known coastal routes of Luzon.
The caves of Aglipay are among its familiar attractions. Their chambers and rock formations offer a close encounter with the province’s limestone landscape. Along the Siitan River, rock walls and flowing water provide another perspective on the terrain.
Quirino’s towns add local flavors to the journey. Tubikoy, a name combining tupig, bibingka and tikoy, is one of the delicacies associated with the province. Between a river view, a cave visit and a stop for something to eat, Quirino makes a case for taking time with places that are less often in the spotlight.
