Sorsogon: A Coast with Gentle Giants

Sorsogon is closely associated with Donsol and the whale sharks known locally as butanding. These are wild animals, and their presence is part of a marine environment rather than a guaranteed performance for visitors.

The province’s appeal extends beyond a single wildlife encounter. Coastal towns, bays and waterways connect daily life with fishing and other activities at sea. Moving through these communities offers a broader understanding of the landscape than an itinerary built around one sighting.
