Mention e-cities and what immediately comes to mind are entities that possess the four Es: being Eco-friendly, Energy-efficient, Easy to use and above all, Earth-friendly.
More so in this day and age where there is that need to reverse that ecological imbalance that affects each and every one of us due to pollution, congestion, the depletion of our fragile resources, inadequate infrastructure, lack of timely solutions, processes and innovations—or a combination of the abovementioned dilemmas.
Yet there are indeed refreshing, workable and practical solutions that can reverse this grim scenario triggered by such dilemmas. Which also created the perfect frame of mind for ACMobility—the mobility arm of Ayala Corporation—to showcase its interactive model e-city diorama at the 14th PEVS/ Philippine Electrical Vehicle Summit held at the SMX Convention Centre from October 22 to 24.
Stunningly crafted and occupying the center display, the ACMobility Diorama E-system depicts an integrated ecosystem: here, individual homes, commercial establishments and charging networks bind, converge and unite.
For one, homes have their own residential chargers where car owners can do the charging at their own comfort.
Two, there are also centrally-located public EV charging hubs when motorists as well as delivery and public utility e-vehicles also need these in case of emergency.
And three, take note of the presence of the community charging hub located at the commercial area.
Not to be outdone are the proliferation of solar energy panels for every house and establishment as well as renewable windmill energy provided by three-blade windmills! And take note of the lush trees as well as pockets of greenery that not only provide shade and control urban erosion but help purify the air (these trap airborne pollutants such as ozone, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides while absorbing carbon dioxides and releasing fresh oxides) as well being natural acoustic buffers, help reduce urban noise at the same time.
Indeed, thanks to ACMobility’s diorama, imagine what it is living and working in such a city that is clean, green and serene, where solar energy can equally combine with renewable wind energy that equally enhance both healthy, holistic living and healthy, holistic motoring!
Vehicles-wise, the 14th PEVS saw the launching of the new KIA PV5 Cargo van and a display of the 7-seater BYD Tang DM-i. The PV5 highlights a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that offers 163 PS, with a battery capacity of 51.5 kWh and a maximum estimated range of 384 kms. AC charging, via its Type 2 port, supports up to 11 kW; DC charging is up to 350 kW via CCS2 port. Enhancements that make loading and unloading a breeze with the PV5 include a wide side sliding door, rear dual swing doors that open 180 degrees, and flat loading bay for all kinds of loads.
For its part, Tang DM-i—launched in September last year--features a plug-in hybrid power plant that delivers 272 PS, with an electric only range that delivers an impressive 110 kms of driving in pure EV mode--thanks to BYD's Super DM-i technology. When combined with its 1.5 litre turbocharged gas engine, the Tang DM-i is capable of a very impressive 1,000 kms. driving range! Comfort-wise, the Tang DM-i offers a spacious cabin with flexible 2nd and 3rd row seating, panoramic sun roof and dual-zone automatic climate control.
As one of our country’s premier providers of innovative EV solutions, services and infrastructure, (in addition to distributing KIA and BYD vehicles) indeed ACMobility continues to look into the future with much even greater confidence—especially with the proliferation of more and more EVs among Filipino motorists. ACMobility now takes pride with its network of over 240 charging stations and 600 charge points nationwide. It also has launched its EVRO app, a user-friendly mobile app that enables owners to locate compatible AC and DC charging locations, with 430 DOE/ Department Of Energy-registered charging stations and over 100,000 app users, and continue to grow.
