Antique: A Different Kind of Retreat
Warm kawa baths and cool river landscapes give the province a distinctive pace.
Antique occupies the western side of Panay, where mountains and rivers meet a long coastline. Its attractions often invite a slower kind of visit, centered on the landscape rather than a crowded sequence of stops.
In Tibiao, the kawa bath has become a recognizable local experience. Large metal vessels filled with warm water are used for bathing, often with leaves or flowers added. It is an unusual setting for a pause, closely associated with the province’s tourism identity.
Farther north, Malumpati in Pandan offers a contrasting landscape of cool water and greenery. The province’s waterfalls and river valleys add further variety. Together, these places present Antique as a destination where the appeal lies in taking time with the surroundings.
